Grand Rapids is packed with passionate makers and small business owners, and CK Knife Company is a great example of local craftsmanship done right.

At Glover Home Group, we love highlighting the local businesses that make West Michigan tick. We recently caught up with Camryn Knaub, the owner of CK Knife Company, to learn more about his hands-on approach to crafting custom, USA-made blades right here in our backyard.

Made to Be Used, Not Hidden Away

In a world full of mass-produced goods, Camryn operates on a simple philosophy: a good knife should last a lifetime.

Every knife leaving the shop is crafted by hand in the United States. From shaping and finishing custom handles to hand sharpening the final edge, real hands on work goes into every single piece. CK Knife Company also partners with small American suppliers whenever possible to keep the supply chain local.

Craftsmanship for the Kitchen and the Field

Rather than pumping out generic inventory, Camryn focuses on functional, everyday utility. His work spans everything from dedicated kitchen blades, lightweight fillet knives designed for clean precision, to rugged pocket sized fixed blades built for camping, hunting, and daily carry.

What really sets his pieces apart is the detail in the materials. Camryn works with high-carbon and Damascus steel for strength, pairing each blade with custom handles made from natural hardwoods, antler, bone, or vibrant epoxy and G10 blends. If you have a specific vision in mind, he also takes on custom projects to build one-of-a-kind pieces from scratch.

Backed for Life & Supporting First Responders

One of the best things about CK Knife Company is their post-purchase support. Every knife includes free lifetime sharpening and maintenance. They want you to use your knife, get it dirty, and put it to work, knowing you can always send it back to get restored to a razor edge.

Camryn also gives back to those who serve by offering a lifetime 10% discount for military members, veterans, police, firefighters, and EMS personnel.

Beyond blades, they also offer cutting boards, charcuterie boards, and apparel. Next time you are looking for a unique gift or custom tool, check out CK Knife Company and support a great local Grand Rapids business!
